Bananas + cake and whipped topping = Foodie heaven. We don't know why we've always loved the combination of bananas and cake/ice cream/whipped anything (maybe it stems from having thousands of banana splits as a kid?), but we do know it's delicious!

Cake:
2 and 1/2 cups cake flour
2 eggs
2 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup mashed bananas (very ripe)

Frosting:
1 and 1/2 cups heavy cream
3 cups brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
5 Tablespoons cold butter
1/2 to 3/4 cup icing sugar
